The weekend movie binge menu
Missed your favourite stars at the movies recently? You can watch them online now
Going to the movies isn’t as common as it used to be before Covid-19, and particularly since the OTT wave washed over the world. But many of us can’t go to catch our favourite stars on the big screen because of lack of accessibility, or our inability to get to an accessible space. Limited mobility can make some things tougher to do than others, so we’re bringing you a list of flicks you might have missed recently that are now available on OTT platforms.
Tiger 3
Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif make an action-filled comeback with their third film in the hit Tiger franchise. The spies-turned-spouses are pitted against each other in this version though, making for some great viewing and punchy dialogues that every Salman fan dotes on. Emraan Hashmi makes is an impressive villain, and King Khan makes a fantastic special appearance midway that’s totally worth your time. Available on Amazon Prime Video.
Sam Bahadur
Meghna Gulzar’s acclaimed biopic on the legendary Sam Manekshaw, India’s first field marshal starring the formidable Vicky Kaushal and Sanya Malhotra. With an active military career spanning four decades and three wars, Manekshaw, also known as Sam Bahadur, was an exemplary soldier and unique in his ability to balance the field and politics, and duty with humanity. The critically and commercially successful film is available on Zee5.
Merry Christmas
The much-awaited Sriram Raghavan movie did not disappoint — the Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif starrer is a mysterious but fun-filled ride through murder and romance. Based on Frédéric Dard's French novel Le Monte-charge (Bird in a Cage), Merry Christmas is the story of one fateful night in Mumbai when two strangers and meet and mayhem ensues. If you love murder mysteries, this is your jam. Available on Netflix.
Dunki
When Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani get together, you know the result will be special. Dunki is the heart-warming story of a group of friends who decide to immigrate to the UK via an illegal route called donkey flight. As with all Hirani films, Dunki is fuzzy and emotional, the kind of movie that makes you want to call your friends in the middle of the night and tell them you love them! Available on Netflix.
Fighter
Last but definitely not least, Siddharth Anand’s Fighter is for action and aviation lovers where Hrithik Roshan does not disappoint. The film’s music has already taken the country by storm, and while admittedly it’s unnecessarily jingoistic, there’s no denying the adrenaline rush that accompanies all the action. Shot in real-life locations and with considerable input from the IAF, Fighter isn’t Top Gun, but a fun watch nevertheless. Available on Netflix.
