      Hello,

      Guest

      Get out and about

As the weather cools, Mumbai buzzes with all kinds of exciting events. Here are some recommendations

As most of India retires indoors to avoid the chills, all of Mumbai steps out to enjoy pretty, sunny days and balmy evenings by the sea. It’s the perfect season to attend outdoor events, have beachside fun, picnic in parks and get around the city decked up for Christmas and New Year.
This season, there are a bunch of things you can do to make the most of the weather in Mumbai. Have a look.

      Elephanta Caves Tour
Several travel companies in Mumbai offer special tours to the spectacular Elephanta Caves for people with limited mobility. From the Gateway of India, you are seated on a ferry to Gharapuri island where there are people to lift your wheelchair up flights of stairs in a safe manner. There are also palanquins and dolis especially assigned for the elderly and people with limited mobility so that they can visit this ancient site and truly enjoy its architectural beauty upfront, instead of from home.

      Mumbai Festival 2024
Come January 20 and Mumbai will come alive with a citywide festival of music, art, culture, shopping and whatnot with the Mumbai Festival. This includes the famed Kala Ghoda Festival, set up in the eponymous South Bombay precinct, as well as the Mumbai Marathon. There are also other programmes that are included such as yoga by the bay, activities for kids, a photo exhibition of Mumbai through the decades and fun dining and entertainment options.

      Countless Concerts
If you’re a music enthusiast, there’s no dearth of concerts this January in Mumbai city. From classic performances by the likes of Javed Akhtar, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Shankar Mahadevan and Sonu Nigam at Shanmukhananda Hall, to the iconic Lollapalooza music festival at Mahalaxmi Racecourse featuring Sting, the Jonas Brothers, and Anoushka Shankar, you have an exciting roster to choose from. For a unique experience, book tickets for the ethereal and immersive Candlelight India Coldplay tribute concert at the Royal Opera House Theatre.Euphoria the band will also perform at various venues in Mumbai in January to commemorate its 25th anniversary.

      Laugh riots
The Mumbai stand-up comedy scene has truly taken off in the past couple of years. Today, there’s a show every day in some part of the city, and whether they’re stars or just coming up, you’re guaranteed to have fun. The Habitat is hosting an All Stars event every week where one of your favourite comedians is bound to show up. Think Azeem Banatwalla, Jeeya Sethi, or Pavitra Shetty. You can also catch a Prashasti Singh show, or an improv session at The Habitat this month.

Other venues hosting the coolest comedy cats in January are The J Club in Juhu (Anuvab Pal), Courtyard at R City Mall in Ghatkopar (Amit Tandon), and NCPA (Varun Grover, Aakash Gupta and Abhishek Upmanyu).

If you don’t want to do anything specific, but just want to go out and roam Mumbai, the stretch from Gateway of India, down to Marine Drive is lovely. It’s totally accessible, you’ll enjoy the sea breeze and its grand colonial sights, and you can enjoy tasty street food and some hot tea while boat watching here. To go to the beach, head to Girgaum Chowpatty and you will not be disappointed!

(Please confirm that the venues mentioned in this post are wheelchair accessible before buying tickets.)
