Jehangir Art Gallery
It’s the only gallery on this list, but Jehangir is an institution and simply cannot be missed. Located in the Kala Ghoda district of South Bombay, it was established in the 1950s by Cowasji Jehangir, one of the most prominent Parsis in India at the time. The gallery features several exhibition halls, showcasing traditional and contemporary art over the decades. Jehangir is fully accessible by wheelchair, so don’t miss this slice of Mumbai’s history to visit.
CSMVS
The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS), formerly known as the Prince of Wales Museum, is a 20th-century institution that traces Indian history from the prehistoric to modern times. With more than 50,000 objects on display, this museum is one place you could spend your entire day in.
Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum
Located next to Byculla Zoo, Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum is Bombay’s oldest museum, dating back to 1855. A highlight is its collection of paintings made by young painters from the JJ School of Art, which are now rarities.

Designed mainly for children, the museum is divided into several sections depending on what is appealing to you on a particular day. Do you want to learn about conservation? Check. Do you want to engage with others? The amphitheater zone is the answer. It’s an incredible place to spend quality time young or old.
